Ace Quest

Old Entries - November

For those of you who are not located in the U.S.A., we're coming upon an important national holiday. What does that mean to you? It means the website won't be updated for just a wee bit of time. You see, even though Thanksgiving (that's the holiday I was talking about), is one day, I'm going to go take the time to visit my family for several days. Apparently, they want to see me, and it's always nice to see them.

Don't cry. We have things for you to do. Let's talk about some of the old stuff before the new stuff. One, you can write a crazy short story about Ace Quest. Two, you can upload Fan Art. Three, there are several polls that you can take...it just requires a couple of clicks, and you've made your opinion known.

Did someone say new stuff? No, but someone sure wrote it down. In my absence, I'd like to start a little competition. Just a tiny one. It's nothing important, but we would appreciate your participation. You see, we'd like a banner. It's not that there's anything wrong with what we have, but the website needs to have some flesh put on it. We don't have the elite skills that many of you have, to push pixels. We're simply unable to make a cohesive image of anything. But you might be able to whip something up. What would take us years of hard work and practice, you can do in a matter of minutes. Be creative. You don't need to stick with this color scheme. These colors can be changed, real nice and easy like. Just send me banners in the fan art section (the width should be 600px, the height should be around 75px).

Alright, you thought our announcements were over didn't you? Good, because they aren't. You see we've also added the Ace Quest 2 unfinished game in the download section. So you can download it. You can play it. You can tell all your friends about it. Or you could just ignore it with the nagging feeling you'll have your whole life that you missed out on an unforgettable experience. It's your choice, no pressure.

Have a good Turkey day.

Ace Quest and I got to talking, and we decided that it was high time that we at least allow you to comment on this website. If you want to get into contact with either Ace Quest, or myself, that would be the way to do it. We're also proud to introduce a fan art section of our page. Now I know what you're thinking. “Fan art! How can I contribute?” You can contribute by making art...preferably about Ace, and then submit it to me.

I know, I know...we're not all great artists. So how else can we contribute? Why simply by sending us a short Ace Quest story. You're in luck, because we've had that section here for some time. You haven't been sending us stories. Your friends have, though, and they're talking about your lack of creativity behind your back. They told me not to tell you, but I'm no good with secrets. You'll have to confront them, though, preferably, after you've written a short story.

Consider this a medium size update to the page. Check out our new “Ask Ace” section. Seriously, do it now. Are you still here? If you want to know how to work “Ask Ace” correctly...and I know you want Ace to answer your questions, then I highly suggest sending short stories, with your e-mail. You can even give one-liners. We're spending our time to create something for you. We expect you to spend at least one minute of your time doing something for us.

I made very quick text size change. I made the text smaller. Just one of the many little tweaks I'll continue to make here or there.

Ok, I got a message from someone that my poll didn't have a picture of Ace Quest. That's a valid concern if you haven't played the game before. My answer to that is play the game! Or more precisely, I've made the original version available for download.

Now I know I could simply put an image of Ace Quest with the poll. There are reasons I haven't done so. One, you can now play the game and find out for yourself. Two, I set up the polling to generate dynamically, and I don't want to fiddle with it to show a picture. But mostly, three...it's a silly poll. I might take some questions more serious than others.

I plan to supplement this site with a few more things, so keep checking back. And for goodness sakes, send me some stories! This could be your chance to affect the game in a big way. Especially since the development is still in its infancy.

Because I'm trying to allow you guys to interact with this website, I've decided to add a Poll Section. Here I'll add polls on a regular basis that may or may not affect the game. I'll figure out how regularly I'll want to do it...but I'm going to aim for at least once a week. Now the polling was scripted from scratch, so I apologize if you have problems with it.

I also widened the main panel, as you may have noticed, if you'd been here before. I intend to make tweaks to the styles here and there, but it's not my main concern. I, and Ace of course, am concerned about YOU. We want to make this website an informationally enjoyable website. Scratch that, we want to have it full of information...we don't care if it's enjoyable. But we want you to visit often, so expect some other additions to the website in the future. Enticed? Too bad, we're just offering vague unenforceable promises.

Welcome one and all (but mostly you) to the official Ace Quest website. You can tell the difference between this website and the other's claiming to be the official Ace Quest website by the fact that this website exists and, conversely, the other websites don't.

Now I know that we haven't always been there for you. For five long years, Ace Quest has made no guest appearances, games, jokes, signed autographs...in general, he's been a real ass.

But it's not because he hasn't been thinking of you...he hasn't...but it is because he has been busy earning a college education, he's been busy working, and he's been busy lobbying to bring lard back to fast food fries.

But his life, and indirectly, yours, is about to change. He's tired of the “constant” stream of e-mails and phone calls asking him where he is. He's ready to come out and play.
