Ace Quest is beginning the process of hiring and firing people (In that order). Now job is a loose term that really means volunteer work. That means there’s no money involved. Since the Ace Quest game will be a free game, it would be a bad business model for us to pay for your work. The only payment is recognition.
We plan on staggering job releases for a couple of reasons. Some things just can’t be built at the same time. For instance, I can’t create graphics for rooms if I haven’t even created some plot outline that needs that room. It’s also much easier to manage less people at a time. If I have to coordinate several people, that I don’t have any face to face time with, ever, it’s difficult to keep everyone on track, including myself.
So what happens if you want to help with Ace Quest, but so far there’s no job that you think you want to, or could, perform? You can always check back, read the Ace Quest monthly magazine for updates as to what job positions are available. You can also send in stories on the story section, this feeds into the magazine. Beta testing will be available before the game is released. You can create fan art.
Description: Somoene who will review the plot scripts (when they become available) and offer feedback.
Additional: This position may contain several people. While editing grammer/spelling is part of this job, it's far more important that you be able to offer criticisms (when you think something doesn't make sense, doesn't work, or isn't funny) with solutions (something that does make sense, does work, and is funny).
Description: A pixel artist who will create all character sprites. We expect you to be able to make the character walk, talk (with facial expressions), able to animate character with other objects, and able to make characters with more than one outfit.
Additional: Some of these sprites will be used on other games. This is the first art that’s being placed in the game, so you have a chance to decide what direction this and all future games may go. Ace Quest doesn’t need to have the fanciest graphics around. We’d much rather take decent character animation that takes 1 week to make versus beautiful character animation that take 3 months to create. It helps if you have a sense of humor, and we’d like to see that reflected in your work.
Description: You decide.
Additional: Maybe there’s something we need, that we haven’t thought of yet, or put up here yet, and you’d like to do that unknown task. Tell us about it, and convince us of its importance and we might add it up here, or just hire you on the spot.
